Description

Although it is possible to attach existing VM to CR, it would be nice to have hosts attached if we are able to identify them from the facts uploaded. This is relevant to either discovered hosts or hosts craeted via facts.

Implementation can be challenging as we need to know VM (UU)ID from within the VM and this needs to be fact uploaded. Nice feature, but not improtant imho.

Why don't you associate the host to the VM?

He is aware. The purpose of this RFE is to do this automatically. This was discussed in BZ. Low priority.

The existing association feature works by other identifying attributes, such as MAC or IP, rather than having the VM self-report.

This method's easy to call today, but the difficulty with it is that you don't know which CR to attempt association against. (All could be expensive.)

It would also have to be optional, as there are side-effects such as deletion when you have an association present.
