Errors in feature boxes of limited use on smart proxy overview page

Description
To reproduce, add a working smart proxy then shut it down and visit the overview ui page.
The error boxes don't provide useful information. Better to make them informative (the first box is for logs, iirc) and still usable in some way.

Reducing the leading text in the exception messages would allow the root cause to be shown more clearly, it's currently truncated.
