I was able to locate issue 30889 which seems to detail a possible cause of the sporadic errors we see when accessing the compute_profiles api. It seems to still be occurring for us with the fix being to refresh the cache of the impacted compute_resource or flushing the rails cache. We run multiple instances of foreman all connected to one central redis cache for rails (with dynaflow and local redis running although we don't use that functionality.)
